The culinary Volcano Country
A particularly lovely section of Styria extends from Riegersburg
in the north to Straden in the south, and from Auersbach in the west
to Fehring in the east. And it is especially attractive for pleasure-loving
travellers: in this region they will be amply rewarded in their search
for enjoyable culinary experiences. With regard to gourmet food and
wine, this should come as no great surprise, but they will also find
many off-beat delicacies ranging from the famous pumpkin-seed oil,
which is of unrivalled quality here, to the hand-cured ham and other
pork specialities, and to something that many travellers might not
expect: perhaps the world’s best handmade chocolates.
